I was drawing this piece while in Ducketts Grove, basking in the summer sun listening to the crows and a lovely lady approached me to see what I was doing and she asked why I was drawing snails, I told her I loved snails and had pet snails as a child and also a roommate in college had pet snails to! my nephews now love hunting the gardens, snail watching. She then told me a story of her sons pet snails saved from the outskirts of chernobyl many years ago, named Margo and escargo, they had to be handled very carefully with gloves but they lived in a lovely glass jar so big filled with everything they needed to live. Her son couldn't leave his new friends behind. I imagined them going on some amazing adventures with this women's son many years ago. I seen a snail today basking in the morning sun high up on a wooden gate, I think it was a very distant cousin of margos climbing up his mount everest.
